About

Hi,

I'm Steve Cobbin; semi - retired teacher originally from London, now residing in Somerset.

I paint landscapes, wild open spaces, woodlands,  broad vistas and panoramas and the wildlife that lives within them; all of which are in abundance in the West Country.

My work is a celebration of the beauty of the land.

I use vivid colour, stark contrasts and bold line to communicate, not just the visual but also the emotional impact of a place.

I also draw and watercolour - isolated buildings, ruins, gnarly trees, birds and wildlife. All of my work is inspired by real places, scenes and encounters.

I have exhibited widely in the West Country;  Dartmoor National Park, Exeter, Tiverton, and elsewhere - In Somerset; Taunton, Glastonbury, Street, Shepton Mallet, Ilminster.- In Dorset; Swanage.

I have also illustrated a chidren's book and published photographs

I am happy to consider commissions of any kind and have produced still lives, city scapes, church portraits, animal sketches, and other illustrations for many clients.

" Steve Cobbin's work is filled with the deep connection that can only come from years of wondering through the landscapes that inspire him ".
